Renew your Housing

Application Process:

Current residents will renew their housing assignments for fall 2022–spring 2023 in March 2022. You will need to follow the steps outlined below to complete the renewal process.

  1. Beginning March 1 you will need to log onto MyResCenter.
  2. You will use your MyJSU username and password to log on.
  3. Follow the steps and complete the Returning Student Application 2022–2023.
  4. Submit your completed application. This does not ensure housing for next year.
  5. You will need to come back on your specific day to pick your room.

The Returning Student Application will close on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. 

NEW for Fall 2022 - Residents must be preregistered for fall 2022 by May 5, 2022, to confirm their housing assignment. If a resident is not registered for fall classes, their application and/or assignment will be voided and given to the next student in line for an assignment. 


Room Selection:

During the week of March 29 – April 1, residents will have designated dates to reapply for housing. The Pointe @ JSU will have the opportunity to reapply during March 14-27. Room selection will be open each day from 12:00 p.m. – 11:59 p.m. More information about your specific date for room selection will be available in February 2022.

Please note: The Pointe @ JSU is a 12-month lease, lasting fall 2022, spring 2023, and summer 2023, unless approved for a termination of the lease agreement through the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life. 

  • The current cost is $2750 per person per semester for a four-bedroom unit and $2850 per person per semester for a two-bedroom unit (utilities include with $30/per resident monthly allowance for electricity). 
  • Residents have the option to consolidate these payments into just the fall and spring semesters.
  • This two-payment option will be $4125 for a four-bedroom unit ($4275 for two-bedroom unit) in the fall and spring semesters with summer being covered in the previous two semesters.  
  • Residents will be charged for any monthly electricity overages.
  • Residents will be required to complete the contract for The Pointe @ JSU and pay the $200 refundable security deposit by June 30, 2022. 
  • *Lease rates subject to change pending Board of Trustees approval. 


After Room Selection has Closed

Room selection closes on May 5, 2022. If you were unable to select a room during the room selection period, you will need to go back into your Returning Student Application and verify your top three building preferences. Our Housing and Residence Life Operations Specialists will work to place you based on the buildings you list. We will begin sending out assignments in May 2022.

What are my options?

  • Option #1: I want to keep my exact same room assignment for 2022-2023. You will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Tuesday, March 29, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to "squat" for your exact same room. You must submit your application before selecting your room assignment.
  • Option #2: I want a different assignment for 2022-2023. You will still need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Thursday, March 31, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection. *Note: we recommend that you weigh this option carefully. If you do not squat we cannot guarantee your assignment will still be available on March 31.

NEW for Fall 2022 - Residents must be preregistered for fall 2022 by May 5, 2022 to confirm their housing assignment. If a resident is not registered for fall classes, their application and/or assignment will be voided and given to the next student in line for an assignment.

If you do not squat we cannot guarantee your assignment will still be available on March 31.
  • Certain residents of The Pointe @ JSU may not be able to squat for their assignment due to being assigned in an athletic or sorority designated space. If you are a resident of Buildings 2, 3, 4, or 11 and are not a member of a sorority you may not be eligible to squat. If you are not eligible to squat, you will be able to select your room assignment on Wednesday, March 30, 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. Contact our office at jsuhousing@jsu.edu for more information.

The Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life strives to enhance our residential communities each year. With the increase in first-year student enrollment, we are reallocating some of our current offerings to incoming first-year students. Because you are a resident of one of these communities, you may not be eligible to squat for your room and will have your own day to select your room before the upper-class room change selection date occurs.

  • Meehan Hall First and Second Floor residents: These floors are reserved for first-year students and residents are not able to select these assignments.
    • You will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Wednesday, March 30, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection.
    • On Wednesday, March 30, you will be able to select from any available assignment in any of the on-campus apartments (Campus Inn One Bedroom, Campus Inn Efficiency, Colonial Arms, Jax, Mountain Street/Goodlett Avenue, Pannell, and Penn House), Daugette Hall, Meehan Hall, Sparkman Hall, or The Pointe @ JSU.
  • Female residents of Meehan Hall with a 2.5 GPA or higher qualify for the Leadership House for Women. A separate application is required for the Leadership House for Women program. For more information visit our website.
  • Female residents of Meehan Hall that are members of Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Phi Mu, or Zeta Tau Alpha and will be living in your designated housing at The Pointe @ JSU, please see I am a member of a Fraternity or Sorority and want to live in my chapter's designated housing facility. What are my options?
  • Male residents of Meehan Hall that are members of Kappa Sigma or Pi Kappa Phi and will be living in your designated fraternity house, please see I am a member of a Fraternity or Sorority and want to live in my chapter's designated housing facility. What are my options?
  • Meehan Hall Third and Fourth Floor residents: You are eligible to squat for your current assignment or you may search for another option.
    • Option #1: I want to keep my exact same room assignment for 2022-2023. You will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Tuesday, March 29, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to "squat" for your exact same room.
    • Option #2: I want a different assignment for 2022-2023. You will still need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Thursday, March 31, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection. *Note: we recommend that you weigh this option carefully. Leadership House for Women residents: 

Leadership House for Women residents unable to squat and may select from any available spaces on Wednesday, March 30

  • You will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Wednesday, March 30, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection. 

International House residents: 

If you have reapplied to live in the International House for 2022-2023, you will still need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-202 online through MyResCenter starting March 1.

  • If you are accepted into the program for 2022-2023, you will be assigned by the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life according to assignments provided by the International House.   
  • If you are no longer planning to live in the International House for 2022-2023 and still plan to live on campus, you will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022 - 2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Wednesday, March 30, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection.
  • If you are applying to the International House program for the first time and currently live on campus, you will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on your designated day to select a room assignment. 
  • If you are accepted into the program, you will be reassigned to the International House by the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life.

  • You will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on Friday, April 1, between 12:00 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. to search for open rooms and make your room selection.
  • On Friday, April 1, you will be able to select from any available assignment in any of the on-campus apartments (Campus Inn One Bedroom, Campus Inn Efficiency, Colonial Arms, Mountain Street/Goodlett Avenue, Pannell, and Penn House), Daugette Hall, Meehan Hall, Sparkman Hall, or The Pointe @ JSU.
  • Female residents of Curtiss, Fitzpatrick, or Logan with a 2.5 GPA or higher qualify for the Leadership House for Women. A separate application is required for the Leadership House for Women program. For more information visit our website
  • Female residents of Curtiss, Fitzpatrick, or Logan that are members of Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Phi Mu, or Zeta Tau Alpha and will be living in your designated housing at The Pointe @ JSU, please see I am a member of a Fraternity or Sorority and want to live in my chapter's designated housing facilities. Members of Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Phi Mu, Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Sigma, and Pi Kappa Phi have designated housing facilities on campus. If you are wanting to live in your designated housing, follow the steps below. 

  • Option #1: If you currently live on campus, you will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1.
    • Room assignments should be submitted by the chapter president to the Director of Housing Operations, Brooke Lyon (jsuhousing@jsu.edu), by March 18.
    • Once the room assignment list has been submitted, the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life will make the remaining assignments. 
  • Option #2: I do not live on campus and want to live in my chapter's designated rooms or fraternity house.
    • You will need to submit a Transfer/New Upper Class Resident Application Fall 2022-Spring 2023 application online through MyResCenter and pay the $200 nonrefundable application fee.
    • Room assignments should be submitted by the chapter president to the Director of Housing Operations, Brooke Lyon (jsuhousing@jsu.edu), by March 18. 
    • Once the room assignment list has been submitted, the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life will make the remaining assignments.

  • If you do not currently live on campus, you will need to submit a Transfer/New Upper Class Resident Application Fall 2022-Spring 2023 online through MyResCenter and pay the $200 nonrefundable application fee.
  • You will be assigned to your room assignment by the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life.
  • If you were chosen to be an alternate RA and plan to still live on campus you will need to submit a Returning Student Application 2022-2023 online through MyResCenter starting March 1 and then log onto MyResCenter on your designated day to select a room assignment.
  • If you are chosen from the alternate list to be a Resident Assistant for fall 2022-spring 2023, the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life will assign you to your room assignment.

  • If you are not planning to live on campus for fall 2022-spring 2023, no steps are needed in the renewal process

  • Please schedule a check-out time with your Resident Assistant at the end of the spring semester to avoid any move-out charges assessed to your student account. Nongraduating residents must vacate their assignment by Thursday, May 5, 12:00 p.m. Graduating residents must vacate their assignment by Saturday, May 7, 12:00 p.m.

  • Graduating residents should also complete an Intent to Vacate form online beginning April 1, 2022.

  • The renewal process is only for residents currently living on campus for spring 2022.
  • If you do not live on campus at this time, but wish to do so for fall 2022-spring 2023, you will need to submit the appropriate application online through MyResCenter and pay the $200 nonrefundable application fee. *Note: A $200 security deposit is also required to complete The Pointe @ JSU contract. The Pointe @ JSU is a 12 month lease for all residents unless approved for a termination of the lease agreement through the Office of Housing Operations and Residence Life. This process only for upper-class students and transfers. New first-year students for fall 2022-spring 2023 will have their own room selection period in April.
  • You will select the Transfer/New Upper-Class Resident Application 2022-2023.
  • April 1 is the preference deadline for all new housing applications. Assignments will be sent out beginning May 15th and the on the 1st and 15th of each month afterwards. All information will be sent to your JSU email account.
  • Once assigned, you will need to log onto MyResCenter for details regarding your room assignment and/or roommate information (if applicable).

  • Option #1: I currently live in an on-campus apartment (Campus Inn One Bedroom, Campus Inn Efficiency, Colonial Arms, Mountain Street/Goodlett Avenue Apartments, Pannell, Penn House). 
    • The Apartment Areas will close for summer 2022. If you live in one of the communities listed above, you will not be able to remain in your assignment for the full summer term. However, you may relocate to Logan or Patterson Hall for summer housing. If you choose to relocate to Logan or Patterson Hall, you will be charged the summer rate(s), which are listed below. Classes are not required to live at Logan or Patterson Hall for the summer terms.  
  • Option #2: I live in any remaining on-campus facility (Crow, Curtiss, Daugette, Dixon, Fitzpatrick, International House, Leadership House for Women, Logan, Meehan, Patterson, Salls, or Sparkman) and want to live in summer housing.
    • Logan and Patterson Hall will be available for summer housing.
    • Resident are not required to be enrolled in summer classes in order to live in Logan or Patterson Hall for the summer. You will be billed for the length of stay as indicated on your summer housing application. Example, if you are only taking Summer I classes, you will only be able to reside in Logan or Patterson Hall for the Summer I term. 
    • The rates for summer housing are: Summer I (May 16 – June 21) - $625, Summer 4 Week Term (June 2 – June 30) - $500, Summer II (June 22 – July 28) - $625, Full Summer (May 16 – July 28) - $1250.
    • Residents will need to select the appropriate applications for the summer classes for which they are enrolled or plan to stay. For example, if you are only taking Summer I classes, you would need to submit the Summer Housing Application and indicate your specific term(s) online through MyResCenter.

Renew FAQ

This does not mean you will not have housing! Room Selection will stay open until May 5, 2022. You may check back periodically, as we will be continuing to open housing throughout this time.  We normally have cancellations during this process so make sure you keep in touch. Please just stay patient with us throughout this process, and remember, this is just the beginning. We will work diligently from now until the end of summer to place students.

If you no longer need on-campus housing for fall 2022-spring 2023, you may visit our website to cancel your application. Residents may cancel their assignment from April 1, 2022 until August 1, 2022 without monetary penalty.

Cancel Housing

If you still need on-campus housing for fall 2022-spring 2023, please visit MyResCenter to submit your application. You may edit your reapplication building preferences online. The application link will close on May 5, 2022, and you will no longer be able to make changes to your application. If you do not submit your application by May 5, 2022, then you will be considered a new student and will be required to submit the Transfer/New Upper Class Resident Application and pay the $200 nonrefundable application fee again.

Because space is limited we will assign residents according to the application submission date. We will begin sending out assignment information on May 15, 2022 and every two weeks afterwards. You will receive an email containing your assignment once you have been assigned. All information will be sent to your JSU email address.
