New Pathways

Counseling Services provides the New Pathways Program for students who have violated the JSU Student Code of Conduct by committing a drug or alcohol offense. The program is psycho-educational and involves individualized assessment and completion of Canvas Course Modules. Referrals are accepted from JSU Community Standards and Ethics , JSU and community law enforcement, probation/court referral officers, various JSU departments (e.g.: housing, student health, faculty, etc.) and self- referrals.

Active Minds

Active Minds is a student-led organization whose purpose is to change the conversation on campus about mental health issues. This group strives to provide understanding and a supportive environment where students are able to openly discuss mental health related topics. Members of Active Minds seek to educate their peers, reduce the stigma associated with mental health conditions, promote mental wellness, and encourage their peers to seek help when necessary.

Membership is open to all current JSU students and alumni with an interest in mental health.

Meeting Time:  2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 5 p.m.

Common Ground Recovery Group

Common Ground is a support group for individuals who are experiencing concerns related to substance use or other issues that have a negative impact on life. The group is an open group meeting for students and community members.

An expressive arts group for students coping with stress, anxiety, and depression.
