Dr. Joyce earned a Ph.D. in Communication from Southern Illinois University. Prior to joining the JSU faculty, she worked as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at a non-profit organization that raised money for historic education and preservation.
With more than 20 years of industry and academic work in marketing, public relations and advertising, her research foci have been on areas within leadership communication, advertising and strategic marketing communication, and tracking, analyzing, and benchmarking digital experiences. In addition to conference presentations and publications, she is the co-author of the book Effective Leadership Communication: A Guide for Department Chairs and Dean. She has also published research exploring messaging in athletics and higher education advertising and currently pursuing a project exploring social loss in athletics.
