Dr. Joyce (Dr. Teddi), the Ayers Family Endowed Chair of Journalism and Mass Communication and head of the Department of Communication. She previously held the department's inaugural Endowed Professorship of Digital Audience Strategies and High-Impact Learning. In that role, she integrated professional practices into the curriculum, preparing students for successful careers.
With more than 20 years of experience in both industry and academia, Dr. Teddi specializes in marketing, public relations and advertising. She co-authored Effective Leadership Communication: A Guide for Department Chairs and Deans and published research on messaging in athletics, higher education and leadership. Her current work explores athletes as influencers and student leadership development in the classroom.
Before joining Jax State, she worked as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at a non-profit organization focusing on historic education and preservation. In addition, her professional experiences include serving as the Associate Vice President for Strategic Marketing Services at a higher education marketing firm, the Vice President for Marketing, Enrollment & Student Services for a flagship institution, a tenured associate professor, and the Associate Academic Dean and Director of Academic Planning & Research at a private college.
