New International Students
Transfer Out Policies
New JSU Students that have never attended JSU:
JSU International Programs Policy for initial transfer out students, Arrived in the United States on a JSU visa but will transfer out before beginning JSU.
JSU International programs requires that you physically report to Jacksonville State University before a transfer out to another school can be completed.
Steps to Complete an Initial Transfer out (Never attended JSU but arrived in the USA with a JSU student visa)
- Email cfconnell@jsu.edu to schedule an appointment for an IN-PERSON appointment at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL . ( No exemptions to this school policy)
- Go into MYJAX and fill out the reporting documents with an acceptance letter.
- Attend your IN-PERSON appointment
- After following steps 1,2, and 3 properly, the I-20 will be transferred to new school.
Current JSU Students

Transfer out and insurance holds:
If you are planning on transferring out of JSU and need a hold removed to drop a class, international programs will not be able to remove the hold until you have successfully submitted a transfer out request in the international portal with an acceptance letter from the new school.
Transfer out policy form:
International programs will only process one transfer-out form, be it a pre-eligibility form or transfer-in form from the receiving institute you want to transfer to. Please choose wisely what school you will be transferring to as only one form will be filled out by international programs.
I-20 Policies
After an I-20 is complete we cannot change the amount of the scholarship, nor the family funding that is shown on the I-20. Thank you for understanding our policy.
After an I-20 is complete we cannot change the major until you arrive at JSU and begin classes.
Housing Policy
Per JSU housing policy ALL international students must Apply for Housing
Over 21-Year-old:
If you are over 21 years old, you will fill out the Off-Campus Housing Application.
Under 21- Years old:
If you are under 21 years old and first year in college, you will Apply and Pay your $200.00 housing deposit and live on campus. Per housing policy this is REQUIRED for students under 21 years old and in their first year in college.
You are required to have secure housing before you arrive at JSU. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Transportation from the airport
International House and Programs offer FREE airport transportation to all JSU's international students only during the dates posted on our website to and from the Atlanta International Airport. New Drivers License Letter Policy
Students can only request a drivers license letter one time every 90 days. We recommend students go to the DMV to get their drivers license as soon as they get the Drivers License Letter.
