College Credit Exams
College credit exams allow students to earn credit for knowledge and skills they already have, often gained through self-study or work experience. These exams help accelerate academic progress through bypassing introductory courses, reducing educational costs, and validating prior learning. They provide a flexible way to advance in one's education and support career growth by recognizing existing expertise.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides an opportunity for students to earn college credit without attending traditional classes. By scoring well on CLEP exams, students can potentially finish their college degrees faster than the average student. These computer-based exams offer a flexible and efficient way to gain credit for knowledge you already possess.
CLEP Exams Overview CLEP offers 34 exams in five subject areas, covering material typically taught during the first two years of college. By passing a CLEP exam, you can earn 3 or more college credits. For more details about the exams offered and the requirements for earning credits, visit the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) section in the Undergraduate Academic Catalog.
