BSW Professional Advisement
BSW Students are assigned to a faculty mentor after completing Introduction to Social Work (SW 230)
- Students are required to meet with their faculty advisor/mentor at least once in the semester they are assigned to a faculty advisor/mentor and then encouraged to meet with them at least annually to review their progress in the program and to discuss their professional goals and post-graduation plans.
- Faculty professional advisors will review and document with the student their progress in the program and make suggestions regarding appropriate electives to help the student prepare for their professional future.
- Faculty professional advisors/mentors will facilitate discussion on graduate school opportunities and potential contacts in the student’s desired area of future practice.
- Students are encouraged to work closely with their faculty professional advisors/mentors to plan a course of study to assist them in meeting their professional goals.
- During the Pre-Internship meeting the Internship Coordinator will review and discuss the student’s professional plans and goals with the student.
