The Beginning
The first Social Work classes are taught at JSU
1981
First Social Work Faculty
Dr. Rebecca Turner and Dr. Mark Fagan are hired to build the curriculum for a social work minor
1987
ACHE
The Alabama Commission on Higher Education approves a bachelor's degree in Social Work at JSU.
1988
The First Class
The first class of 15 students graduate with their Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from JSU
1992
CSWE
The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) grants initial accreditation for four years with retroactive accreditation status back to April 1988.

CSWE grants Reaffirmation of Accreditation to the BSW Program
2017
Master of Social Work
Jacksonville State starts the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program
2020
BSW/MSW
CSWE reaccredits the BSW Program until 2026. CSWE grants accreditation status for the MSW program until 2026.
