Visual Arts Summer Camp
What to expect:
Creative minded high schoolers looking for an in-depth art experience will be right at home at JSU’s Visual Arts Camp. This program will give students insight into what it is like to be a college level designer and artist in the JSU Art Department. Workshops will be taught by our experienced Faculty and graduate students. The camp includes housing, meals, and supplies. The week long camp will end with an Exhibition of the students’ work in one of our 4 campus gallery spaces open to family and friends.
The Visual Arts Camp will consist of studio- based workshops on subjects ranging from screen printing, digital design, art history, watercolor painting, ceramics, and more.
Monday- Thursday will be workshop days where students will create work based on college level principles of design. Students will be provided supplies for these classes, but are more than welcome to bring their own supplies if desired.
Friday the students will learn to mat and hang their work for a show in one of our on campus gallery spaces. This show will be open to family and friends.
The Workshops Director of the Visual Arts Camp is our printmaking professor Sarah Ellis.
