    University Scholarships

    Jacksonville State University offers various scholarships for entering freshman as well as returning students.  Academic scholarships are automatically given consideration to entering freshmen based on the completed undergraduate admission, scholarship application, official high school transcripts and test scores. Most scholarships are based on the applicant's academic or extracurricular record, while some are based on demonstrated financial need.  Those requesting scholarships based on need should also submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The quickest way to apply is online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

    Consult our Scholarship Listing (listed under the Types tab) for information pertaining to individual requirements and/or restrictions of scholarships offered.  Scholarship offers are subject to applicant being admitted to the University.  The application deadline is March 1, 2009 for scholarships. 

    To apply for university scholarships complete this electronic application. Official high school transcripts and test scores must be on file at JSU or submitted with the application prior to the scholarship deadline.

    Leadership Scholarships

    A number of one-year, full tuition scholarships are available to high school senior applicants based primarily on their leadership roles, offices held in extracurricular activities, and community involvement. These applicants must be unconditionally admitted to JSU and have a 2.5 academic GPA.

    To apply for a Leadership Scholarship complete the printed scholarship application. Attach a resumé including all information pertinent to scholarship selection to the printed scholarship application. The resumé should include activities and offices held, a listing of all community service and church activities and/or employment. Also, include a copy of your high school transcript and a photograph. The Leadership Scholarship application cannot be submitted online.

    Acceptance for 2009-2010 Leadership Scholarship Applications begins October 1, 2008 and ends March 1, 2009.


     

    To expedite processing, you must have your Official High School transcripts sent to me as soon as possible. It can be mailed in a school sealed envelope to the Financial Aid Office, Attention Scholarships or faxed to the attention of Scholarships (256) 782-5476 under a high school fax cover sheet. The preferred method is by fax.
