Title IX SPARC Training Course
The Title IX SPARC Training Course is an interactive course that consists of four unique modules that introduces the JSU community to our new Sex-Based Harassment and Misconduct Policy, explains the type of conduct that is prohibited on campus, resources available around the JSU campus, and empowers all students and employees to intervene if they see signs of prohibited conduct. The entire course is generally completed in less than one hour. Please contact JSU’s Title IX Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or if you need any additional information.
(If you have never successfully logged into the Canvas system before, you will need to log-in to Canvas for the first time. This link will take you to directions. You will also need to make sure you can get into your GEM email account at all times, as that is where the email will go if/when you need to select "forgot password".)
Bonny Shade: Just Another Assault
Bonny Shade is coming to JSU on November 16, 2021!
Bonny is a survivor of sexual assault. An assault by her close college friend. It took her more than seven years to realize it.
In her powerful program, Just Another Assault, Bonny takes an in-depth look at issues surrounding assault, rape culture, and healing. She describes how her personal journey has involved understanding acquaintance-based assaults, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and sharing her experience to help others find the truth in their own.
1-in-4 college students will be survivors of sexual assault. It is not only an issue for the victim or the campus community; this is an issue for us all. Bonny strives to deliver a thought-provoking and interactive program which is intended to allow the space for audiences to discuss the uncomfortable and equip audience members with realistic intervention strategies. And, for victims to know they are not just another assault.
This program is being sponsored by The Marching Southerners, Athletics, Residence Life, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Counseling Services, and the Title IX Office.
Escalation Domestic Violence Prevention Workshop
The Escalation Workshop is a film-based discussion that opens people’s eyes to the warning signs of relationship abuse. The workshop consists of a film, Escalation, followed by a guided discussion led by a trained facilitator. If you are interested in scheduling a time to complete this workshop or you would like to make this workshop available to your group, class, or organization, please contact JSU’s Title IX Coordinator at email@example.com. She would be happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with any additional information that might be helpful.
