Field Education Placement

A social work student plays with blocks with a special needs student.

In accordance with the Council on Social Work Education Field Education Standards, JSU has partnered with a variety of professional social work agencies in our state and region to ensure that field students are allowed to practice and demonstrate the nine social work competencies with all system levels (Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities).

Field Education Placements are found in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Child Welfare Agencies
  • Public Health Agencies
  • Hospitals
  • Home Health/Hospice Agencies
  • Nursing Homes
  • Schools
  • Community Mental Health Agencies
  • Government Social Service Agencies
  • The court systems
  • Probation and Parole
  • Jails and Detention Centers
  • Recovery Centers
  • Non-profit Social Service Agencies
  • Students can discuss Field Placements not historically used by the Department and if the agency meets CSWE and University requirements, consideration can be given to the placement.
