Summer Hours and Information

JSU will close the chapter on its Spring 2023 semester when the last final exams are taken on Friday, April 28. Spring commencement will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 9 a.m. in JSU Stadium. Campus will slow down but remain open until summer classes begin on Tuesday, May 16. Below is a list of hours and information to help faculty, staff and students navigate the remainder of the spring semester, the summer semester and the short break in-between. 

OFFICES

University offices will maintain regular university hours throughout the summer - Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - except for the following holidays: Memorial Day, May 29; Juneteenth, June 19; and Independence Day, July 3-4.

DINING

JSU Dining will close for the semester, including Kiwibot service, on Friday, April 28, at 2 p.m. Summer dining hours will begin on May 16 as listed below, although Jack Hopper Dining Hall will be open for lunch only (an orientation day) on Monday, May 15.

Jack Hopper Dining Hall: Monday-Friday, 7-8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 5-6 p.m. The dining hall will close at 1 p.m. on Fridays and remain closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Chick-fil-A: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed on Friday-Sunday.

WOW: Open weekends only, Friday-Sunday, 12-7 p.m.

All other dining concepts, including the Kiwibots, will be closed for the summer.

REC CENTER

The University Recreation and Fitness Center will be open all summer except for Memorial Day, Juneteenth and Independence Day. Summer hours will be effected Saturday, April 29, to Sunday, August 13, as follows: 

Monday to Friday: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
Sunday: 12-8 p.m.

Students who were enrolled in the Spring 2023 semester will continue to have access to the Rec Center through May 17. Those taking at least one class this summer will have access to the center all summer. Students who were enrolled in Spring 2023 or are registered for Fall 2023 but are not taking classes over the summer - including incoming freshmen - may purchase a Semester Off membership for $60 and have access for the summer. Day passes are also available for $10. 

Need to learn to swim so you can enjoy the UREC pools? The center offers private and partner swim lessons for both members and non-members alike. 

Want to explore nature this summer? Adventure Rec rents camping and outdoor equipment to members for a small fee. 

LIBRARY 

Houston Cole Library will be open the following hours this summer: 

Friday, April 28: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, April 30: Closed. 
Monday, May 1 to Sunday, May 14: Open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed weekends. 

The regular summer schedule will be in effect May 15-Aug. 1:Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Sunday, 1-9 p.m.

On Aug. 2-13, the library will be open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

BOOKSTORE

Spring Textbook Rentals must be returned to the Bookstore by Friday, April 28. Students may bring them directly to the Bookstore or mail them back. Flat rate labels may be purchased online or students may use the carrier of their choice if they specify “ATTENTION: BOOKSTORE” on the package. 

Commencement: The Bookstore will be open inside the Stadium Shop for commencement on Saturday, April 29, from 7 a.m. throughout the ceremony. Graduates and their guests may purchase last minute regalia, such as caps and tassels, as well as graduation souvenirs.

Summer Hours: The Bookstore will be open May 1 to August 4 as follows: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will be closed for holidays on May 29, June 19 and July 4. On Gamecock Orientation days, the Bookstore will remain open until 5:30 p.m., when incoming students will be invited to stop by for a special welcome treat.

Summer Aid: The charging period for Student Financial Aid is currently open for summer textbook purchases. Through July 7, students may purchase course materials and supplies using their excess financial aid by simply showing their Student ID at the cash register. Students who need to order online using their financial aid may view instructions online.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND TRANSPORTATION 

The RMC/JSU Health Center will be open its normal hours all summer: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It will be closed Memorial Day and Independence Day. 

The University Police Department will be open 24/7 all summer to keep campus safe and secure. 

The Counseling Center will be open university business hours all summer to serve currently enrolled students. More information and appointments are available online. 

JSU Ride will continue to operate this summer. Beginning on May 1 through the end of summer, it will operate Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Gamecock Orientation (GO!)

The university will host Gamecock Orientation (GO!) for incoming students throughout June and July. There will also be a special GO! session on May 15 for students who are beginning their studies this summer. Please be sure to give these special campus visitors and warm, Friendliest Campus welcome!
