- University of Alabama - Birmingham, undergraduate degree with teaching certificates in mathematics and English. (1981)
- Louisiana Tech University, master's degree in applied mathematics. (1983)
- Mississippi State University, doctorate in statistical methods with a focus on curriculum and instruction (1987); Completed MBA Foundation Program which is equivalent to a general business degree (2001)
