CAEP Accreditation

Since its first accreditation decision in 1954, Jacksonville State University's College of Education and Professional Studies has proudly held National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation.  As the national accrediting agency transitioned into the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), we intended to continue our work with this accreditor.

Over the past seven-year cycle, the College of Education and Professional Studies successfully transitioned from NCATE to CAEP, completing its first accreditation cycle with CAEP in 2020, full accreditation was awarded in 2021. The process to meet and exceed the CAEP standards provided the opportunity for teacher education programs to define success in candidate preparation at both the initial and advanced program levels. The College of Education and Professional Studies Conceptual Framework, LEADERS, guided the school through the transitions, providing an anchor for faculty across programs at the initial and advanced levels. Additionally, the College of Education and Professional Studies Quality Assurance System developed into a robust foundation upon which to build strategic decision making to impact both candidate and P-12 student learning.
