University Recreation is offering a variety of free weekly fitness classes:

  • In-person - with small class sizes and social distancing. Masks are recommended.
  • Live virtual classes - join an in-person class virtually
  • On-demand virtual classes - access a library of pre-recorded classes

Advance bookings are no longer required but you may still reserve your spot 48 hours in advance through our App or portal.

Class Descriptions

Mysore is the traditional method of practicing Ashtanga Yoga. It is a self-paced class allowing students to receive individual instruction while learning the Ashtanga Yoga practice. All levels are welcome, especially beginners! In the beginning, new students receive more attention. As you become more familiar with the practice, you are allowed more independence, getting adjustments and assistance only when needed. Mysore is for everyone. The instructor works individually with each student to come up with modifications if needed. Because everyone is working individually, you don’t have to worry about slowing down or speeding up to keep up or meet the needs of a group class.

This yoga practice includes an opening sequence of Sun Salutations A & B, followed by progressive postures called the Primary Series. This cleansing method of yoga contains vinyasa (movement with breath), bandhas (inner energy locks) and drishti (gaze) to bring awareness to the mind+body. It is meant to be used as a resource to help with memorization for Mysore classes. No prior yoga experience needed!

Spice up your workout with Yoga Motion! This class combines the intensity of dance cardio movement, resistance bands for alignment foundation and a dynamic yoga power flow all while on the mat. Sweat it out with this mind+body detoxing practice that enables the breath to lead each movement. **No yoga experience required**

Booty work is a lower body targeted workout with a blend of HIIT cardio & resistance bands to build that booty!

Find your inner dancer in this full-body movement workout! In this class we will: warm-up with flexibility drills and core conditioning; move across the floor with agility, jumps, and turns; put everything together in a combination at the end of class! No prior dance experience is needed. Socks are recommended! 

Spinning® was founded by endurance road cyclists, and their desire to bring that authentic cycling experience indoors. You’ll get an intense, unique, experience while cycling to some jamming tunes. Come prepared with water and a towel! You will burn BIG calories and get healthier! You’ll love it!

This is a full-body workout to burn fat, strengthen, and build your endurance. It is beginner friendly!

Pound it out!  Get some stress & sweat out of your system with this intense workout!  Pound incorporates good music, proper mechanics, and solid heart rates to create an awesome total body workout. You'll find we can do ALOT using only sticks, our bodies, and the floor. Come rock out!

The instructor leads the class poolside while participants follow in shallow water. Moves have been specially adapted to combine the same dance movements used in a Zumba Fitness class with those used in aqua fitness classes.

This class is for those seeking a light, rejuvenating activity. This class will guide you through a gentle full body flow that will leave you feeling ready to take on the rest of your day.

Stretching series that focuses on hips and legs working on flexibility, mobility, and stability.

Changing the world with one rhythm at a time!  Zumba is a high-energy/judgment-free dance party!  Zumba utilizes music to promote unity, peace, & love!  Join a Zumba class today, & dance the stress away!

Zumba Step is a lower-body workout that incorporates Zumba routines and step aerobics with Latin dance rhythms.

45 minutes of jam-packed fun! Fusing cardio and strength training. 

Bounce your way into a new you! This rebound class is a great way to incorporate cardio and LOW impact! 

This class uses upbeat music to blend cardio and toning using step benches! Great for the beginner! 

Come familiarize yourself with our Synrgy 360 unit as our coaches take you through a challenging and informative HIIT session using cables, ropes, and more! 

TRX is a form of suspension training that uses bodyweight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously.

Grab your tennis shoes and come hit the track to enjoy some company and walking! A GREAT way to add movement to your day!
