The Adventure Recreation Center is open for equipment checkout. You may reserve your equipment in advance through the rental request form below.

For gear pickup, you’ll drive up directly to the ARC, through the RFC’s loading zone, located at the back of the facility.

  • Day Pack: We have two sizes of day packs for members to rent -- 18 Liters and 20 Liters. Both size backpacks have an expansion panel, side panel pockets, an adjustable waist strap, and comfortable shoulder straps.

  • BlockerLite Cinch Sack: The ultralite cinch sack is perfect for organizing gear inside a pack. It is 20 liters and waterproof, with a cinch closure at the top.

  • Sleeping Bag: The ARC has both 20 and 45 degree sleeping bags. The 20 degree has synthetic insulation, an anti-snag zipper, a thermal comfort hood, and a compression stuff sack. The 45 degree bag is synthetic with an anti-snag zipper, and a compression stuff sack.

  • Sleeping Bag Liner: The sleeping bag liner can be used freely as a warm-weather sleeping bag or can be paired with a sleeping bag to add another 5 degrees of warmth. It features a 3/4 zip for easy entry and a compression stuff sack.

  • Sleeping Pads: The ARC offers both accordion style and rolled sleeping pads. These sleeping pads add extra comfort when sleeping on a hard surface while camping, and also insulate the camper's body heat. Both pads are 6 feet long.

  • Profiler 2-burner Stove: This camping stove features 2 individually controlled burners that will support large pots. There are two side panels that work as windscreens during cooking. Requires a propane canister to operate (Not available for purchase at the RFC)

  • Coleman Camp Grill: This 2-burner grill runs on high for 2 hours on one 16.4 ounce propane cylinder (NOT INCLUDED). It has 2 independently adjustable burners, removable grease management tray, non-skid feet, and wind block panels that can also be used as side tables.

  • MSR Pocket Rocket Stove: This stove is no larger than your average wallet, and has an average boiling time of 3 and a half minutes. This contains the stove, instructions, and a carrying case. A self-sealing canister of fuel is required for used but not available for purchase at the RFC.

  • Ice Chest (Cooler): This cooler is 41 quarts, and can be crushed down when empty to save room. It features a zipper closure on top, a zippered pocket on the front, and a mesh pocket inside the lid.

  • Trail Back Trekking Poles: These trekking poles are compact and can be 100-140 centimeters long for any hiker height. It has grips for comfort and straps to carry on wrists.

Sit On Top Kayak: 

Sit-on-top kayaks have similar hull shapes to their traditional counterparts, but instead of sitting inside the kayak, you sit on a molded-in depression on top.  One of the many advantages of its design is comfort.  This is the perfect kayak for a beginner paddler.

Rental Packages

We offer a weekend backpacker package that consist of 2-person tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, 65L backpack, and a headlamp.

We offer a canoe and kayak package that consist of Canoe/Kayak or Inflatable paddle board (SUP), paddle, personal flotation device (PFD), straps, and pads for transportation.

  • Price= $25

We offer a weekend backpacker package that consist of crash pad, hammock with straps, and headlamp.

Gear Rentals

University Recreation provides outdoor equipment rental for students, Rec Members, and non-members. Equipment can be reserved in advance for future use by visiting or calling the Adventure Recreation Center.

Pick-Up

Items being picked-up during the Adventure Recreation Center operating hours will be located in the Adventure Recreation Center. Reserved items being picked up outside of normal office hours if coordinated at the time of reservation.  See the Building Operations Supervisors, or designee, on duty during the established pick-up time. 

Returns

Items being returned during the Adventure Recreation Center operating hours will be located in the Adventure Recreation Center. 

Outdoor Gear Rental Policies

  1. Renters assume full responsibility for the equipment and associated accessories.
  2. Rental fees will be charged at the time of reservation or at checkout for same day rentals.
  3. Renters are responsible for returning equipment dry, clean, correctly packaged, and on time in order to avoid additional fees.
  4. University Recreation will inspect all equipment after it is returned to ensure that all items have been received and are in good working condition.
  5. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the reservation’s start (including cancellations made due to inclement weather or change of plans) will not be refunded.
  6. Add credit card on file for damage fees if determined best.

Fees for Lost/Damaged Equipment

  1. While our rates assume some wear and tear will occur during use, renters are responsible for the cost of repairing any damaged equipment or replacing lost items.  
  2. The lost/damaged fee will not exceed the purchase price of the item.
  3. Damage/Lost fees will appear as a separate charge from the rental and will be assessed within 5 days of the item’s return.
  4. Damage/Lost fees will be charged to the credit card placed on file when making the reservation. 

Late Fees

  1. Renters will be charged the daily rental rate for each day the equipment is past due.
  2. If equipment was reserved by another party and not available for their use, the renter will be charged the cost of the other party’s reservation.
  3. Late fees will appear as a separate charge from the rental and will be assessed within 5 days of the item’s return.
  4. Late fees will be charged to the credit card placed on file when making the reservation.
