Joining the Department of Respiratory Therapy in 2025, Alicia brings a diverse background in higher education, human resources, and creative media. Before coming to JSU in 2021, she worked as a certified professional photographer and a Human Resources Manager.
Whether it’s helping students navigate the program or helping faculty manage the behind-the-scenes details, Alicia takes pride in supporting the future of respiratory care.

Alicia is a proud member of the Sissetuwan Wahpetuwan Oyáte, part of the Dakota Sioux Nation in South Dakota. She now lives in Ohatchee, Alabama, with her family.
Alicia often reflects on the Dakota phrase “Anpetu wasté na ni ye” (pronounced AHN-peh-too wash-TAY nah nee yay) which means “It is a good day to breathe.” It is a mindset that grounds her in the work she does, where breath carries meaning and healing begins with intention.

“Niyá tȟáte so íŋ šni. Niyá wówaš’ake na wówačhiŋ.”
“Breath is not only air. Breath is strength and spirit.”
