Exercises and Drills

Exercises and drills are an extremely important part of any campus (and building) emergency management program. Building evacuation and severe weather sheltering (tornado) drills are encouraged but not mandatory on the JSU campus. If your Building Manager wishes to have a drill, the Building Manager for your building may coordinate the drill and document it using the appropriate evaluation forms listed below. To find out the Building Manager for your building, please refer to the Building Managers List and Responsibilities.

The Jacksonville State University Police Department can help in planning, implementation and evaluation of any drills that the Building Manager wishes to undertake for their building. Certain types of drills (lock-down, shelter in place, unannounced drills other than fire drills, etc.) require advanced planning and technical assistance, and should only be developed with assistance and consultation from Jacksonville State University Police Department personnel.

Note: Fire drill evaluations should be coordinated through the JSU Safety & Security Office (256) 782-5239.
