The First Day Program 

FirstDay™ is the JSU Bookstore's (Barnes & Noble College) inclusive access model where every student has access to digital course materials on or before the first day of class within the Canvas Learning Management System. This affordable solution provides significant savings for related course materials  as noted directly on the student account. While not suggested, students have the ability to opt-out of the program if desired.

Enable FirstDay to Access eTexbooks

To access FirstDay in Canvas, faculty must enable the FirstDay Course Materials link in their Canvas course.

To enable FirstDay in your Canvas course, complete the following steps:

  1. In the navigation menu, click on Settings.
  2. Click on the Notifications tab.
  3. Locate the button/link called First Day Course Materials.
  4. Click on the ellipsis on the button, and select 'Enable.' 
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the 'Save' button.
  6. Click on the 'Home' link in the course navigation menu. You will see 'First Day Course Materials' 
  7. It is active.
