Dr. Porter, originally from Florence, Alabama, came to JSU in 2005 after receiving her Ph.D. in English from The University of Alabama. Her specialty is literature of the Vietnam War, but she also has expertise in American literature, rhetoric and composition studies, modern poetry, popular culture, and writing for the web. She serves as a National Officer of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, volunteers with the Alabama Democratic Party, and is cat mom to rescues Sophie and Annie.
