Aimee Weathers is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at Jacksonville State University, where she has been teaching for ten years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of West Alabama, a Master of Science in Instructional Leadership P–12 and a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University, and an Education Specialist degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. She earned her Doctor of Education from Rockhurst University in 2025. She is also a National STEM Certified Teacher.
Aimee began her career teaching first grade and pre-K, experiences that continue to shape her approach to teacher preparation. She brings a strong practical perspective to her work with preservice teachers and emphasizes classroom ready instruction grounded in research and best practice. She is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and regularly engages in professional development to remain current in the field. She also serves as an NAEYC site reviewer.
Her work in education has been widely recognized. She received the Dean’s Choice Award during the 2023–2024 academic year and was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame for Early Childhood Education in 2024. She has been honored twice by the Gadsden Chamber of Commerce for excellence in STEAM education. Jacksonville State University has also recognized her with the George Mehaffy Excellence in Learning Technology Faculty Award in 2021 and the Cleo and Carla Thomas Faculty Award for Service Learning in 2023.
Specializing in early childhood mathematics, science, and STEAM education, Aimee is passionate about helping young children develop curiosity, confidence, and a genuine love of learning. Her goal is to build meaningful relationships with her students and empower future educators to reach their full potential in the classroom.
