International Application Deposit

The international application deposit is a $100 deposit an admitted student pays before an I-20 is issued to an F-1 International Student for the term the student was accepted into. This deposit will be credited to the student’s account after payment by the drop/add deadline.

Note: Only pay on tab titled International Deposits. Do not pay on student account tab or we will not be able to process your I-20.

Beginning March 1, 2024, Students who pay towards their student account and not the International Deposit page as noted in the instructions will NOT be refunded and will have to make an additional payment to ensure their deposit is properly paid.

 

International Application Deposit Process

Read complete instructions before making deposit. Please note that your MyJaxState log-in is found on your acceptance email. 

  • Log onto MyJaxState
  • Click on View Account/Make Payment
  • Choose International Deposits at the top of the page
  • Choose International App Deposit-$100 from the drop-down menu, then click select .
  • Follow the prompts to complete payment

It is a $100 deposit paid before an I-20 is issued to you as an F-1 International Student.

The $100 will be deposited into your student account balance as a credit after the drop/add deadline of the semester for which you applied for the I-20. 

No, there is no refund. If you do not register for classes and have not paid your tuition by drop/add of the semester you were issued an I-20 (unless on a payment plan) you will not get the deposit credited to your account. There is no refund.

Yes, you will need to pay the International Application Deposit again if you defer to another term. 

No, there are no waivers. Every admitted F-1 international student must pay the application deposit in order to have an I-20 issued.

Yes, you do. There are no exemptions from the application deposit.

Yes. All undergraduate and graduate students requesting an I-20 pay the $100 application deposit.

You have two options:

  1. A refund will be issued for any credit balance on your account after the drop/add deadline.  Please visit the Refund Policy page for instructions on how to set up electronic direct deposit.  If you do not set up electronic direct deposit the refund will be issued to you by check and mailed to the mailing address on file. 
  2. If you wish to use the $100.00 credit for a future semester, please send an email requesting this to studentpayments@jsu.edu 

Yes. It will be used as a credit on your payment plan after your first payment, which must occur prior to the drop/add deadline.

No. The international application deposit only applies for F-1 students being issued an I-20.

No, you will have to pay an additional 100 dollars and pay through the international deposit tab to have your I-20 issued. Please note if you paid the initial 100 dollars in your student account, it will be a credit on your tuition. There is no refund or transfer of money.
