In Case of an Emergency...
For any personal crisis or emergency between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, you may call 256-782-5475. You may also come by in person to 140 Daugette Hall, and a staff member will be available to assist you.
For emergencies/crises after hours or on weekends, you may call the JSU Police (256-782-6000), and they will page an on-call counselor. The counselor will then contact you.
When a Friend Needs Help...
If you aware that someone you know has any of difficulties mentioned on the Counseling Services web page, or other problems not listed here, it may be helpful to involve yourself, while taking care not to become over-involved. Simply express your concern to your friend and perhaps suggest they get help that is available at Counseling Services. In most cases, you need do no more than this. Know the difference between the problems friends can solve together and those they can't. If you have questions or concerns about such a situation and are not sure what to do, you may consult with a trained counselor by calling Counseling Services yourself at 256-782-5475.
