Join in an exploration of travel (and of the unexpected!) on the way to Scotland in 18th and 19th century fiction as we explore works by Horace Walpole, Mary Shelley, John Keats, Tobias Smollett, James Hogg, Walter Scott, Robert Stevenson, and Robert Burns. We’ll experience narratives of ghosts, medical treatments in English spa towns, and the devil while exploring Highgate Cemetery, Westminster Abbey, Oxford University, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh Castle, and the Surgeons’ Hall Museums. If you enjoy reading about and traveling through sublime alleyways, churches, and graveyards, join us on this tour of gothic and travel fiction.
