Program Dates May 2nd – May 8th , 2026

This interdisciplinary honors study tour integrates tropical ecology and tropical medicine through immersive field experiences in Belize. Students will explore the biological diversity of tropical ecosystems—rainforests, caves, and coral reefs—while learning about travel medicine, local traditional medicinal practices, and modern public health issues in tropical regions. Pre-departure classes provide foundational ecological, cultural, and health knowledge. The May study abroad component offers hands-on learning through guided hikes, marine studies, site visits, and interactions with local communities and experts.
