Dr. Duckett received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in 1993, a Master of Science in Nursing and a Teaching Certificate in Nursing Education from Jacksonville State University in 2012, and a Doctor in Nursing Practice from Jacksonville State University in 2019. She worked in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit at a regional hospital for 20 years and obtained her certification in critical care (CCRN) during that time. After obtaining her master’s degree, she joined the JSU team in 2013 as an instructor teaching medical-surgical nursing in the traditional undergraduate BSN program. She later began teaching online in the RN-BSN program in various courses. Dr. Duckett obtained her Certified Online Instructor certification from Jacksonville State University in 2015. Her focus during her master’s and doctoral education was cardiovascular nursing care of the adult client. Dr. Duckett received the prestigious Alabama League for Nursing Lamplighter Award in 2016. She became the Nursing Coordinator for the Center for Best Practices in Teaching and Learning in Fall of 2019 and after receiving her DNP, she was promoted to Assistant Professor.
