Moeha Takeuchi

Moeha is from Nagano Prefecture, Japan, and serves as a Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator. She develops and leads educational, hands-on cultural programs that introduce Japanese traditions, language, and arts to communities throughout Alabama, especially at Jacksonville State University, with the goal of fostering mutual understanding through cultural exchange.

She studied tourism and regional revitalization at university and spent one year studying tourism in the United States. Through her participation in the U.S. Embassy's Ambassador Youth Council, she developed a strong interest in grassroots international exchange and U.S.-Japan relations.

After graduation, Moeha worked for an inbound travel company in Tokyo, where she promoted regional tourism and coordinated travel experiences for international visitors. While she enjoyed introducing Japan to travelers, she realized that many people who are interested in Japan may never have the opportunity to visit. Through the Japan Outreach Initiative, she hopes to bring Japanese culture directly to local communities while also learning from the people she meets and the cultures they share.
