The Jax State Legacy Path Program provides a streamlined admissions process for exceptional students to move seamlessly from their undergraduate to graduate program, or from their graduate to doctoral program.
Eligible students will receive an invitation to participate in this distinguished path and may apply to their selected Jax State graduate program as early as their junior year of their undergraduate program. Students selected for admission will have the opportunity to reserve their spot for a future term in their selected program upon successful completion of all Legacy Path requirements.

Choose Your Graduate Program
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major or minor in Psychology, or a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25
- Students must earn grade of an "A" in the following courses:
- PSY 220 Principles of Behavior Analysis
- PSY 221 Behavior Analysis Lab
- PSY 354 Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis
- PSY 444 Conditioning and Learning
- Students should submit a letter of intent describing:
- Why you are applying to this program
- How your background has prepared you for this program
- Your professional goals after graduation and how this program will help you attain them
All other supplemental items will be waived during application processing.
The Applied Behavior Analysis program only takes admission for Fall semester.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25
- Students must earn grade of "C” or better in the following courses:
- General Biology
- General Chemistry
- General Physics
- Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 with lab
- Biomechanics
- Exercise Physiology
- Kinesiology
- Psychology
Students can submit applications during their senior year of undergraduate degree completion and must apply for the program through ATCAS and must go through the MAT accreditation procedures. Application Link: https://atcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login
Additional application items needed within the ATCAS application:
- Jax State MAT Observation Form
- 2 Letters of Recommendation (1 from a professor in your major and 1 from a certified Athletic Trainer)
- Interview with the Athletic Training Admissions Committee.
The Master’s in Athletic Training program is a competitive program that has a limited number of seats in each cohort. Students that qualify for the Legacy Program are given priority consideration but not guaranteed a seat.
Application deadlines are strictly enforced:
- January 8: Priority Admission Consideration (Summer Cohort)
- February 8: Final Admission Deadline (Summer Cohort)
- February 15: Priority Admission Consideration (Fall Cohort)
- April 1: Final Admission Deadline (Fall Cohort)
The MAT program takes admission for Fall and Summer semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00

The MBA program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Business Marketing Education
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25

The Business Marketing Education program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Students must pass the appropriate praxis test and receive bachelor’s level teaching certification in Business marketing prior to unconditional admission.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigations, or Emergency Management and/or a minor is Criminal Justice.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00

The Criminal Justice program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education
- Maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Students should be enrolled in Internship (ED495)

The Early Childhood MSE program accepts admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education or Elementary.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education
- Maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Students should be enrolled in Internship (ED495)

The Elementary Education MSE program accepts admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education or Elementary
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or Computer Science.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00

The Emergency Management program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Family and Consumer Science Education
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25

The Family and Consumer Science Education program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Students must pass the appropriate praxis test and receive bachelor’s level teaching certification in Family and Consumer Science prior to unconditional admission.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor's degree at Jacksonville State University
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00
- Students must have successfully completed any GY or GIS Course

The Geographic Information Systems and Technology program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major or minor in History
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00

Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Industrial Leadership, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Applied Manufacturing Engineering
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00

The Manufacturing Systems Technology program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at Jacksonville State University
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00
- Possess Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in approved states (verification required)
Students admitted through the Legacy Path program will be conditionally admitted and permitted to register for one semester of graduate coursework after BSN completion to allow time for licensure process completion.

The MSN program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Admission Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Jacksonville State University
- Maintenance of a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the baccalaureate nursing program or the last 60 hours of the program
- Maintenance of a minimum GPA of 2.5 in undergraduate science coursework
- Current résumé or curriculum vitae
- Favorable recommendation from the DNP Admissions Committee

The DNP program only takes admission for Fall and Spring semesters.
Students admitted through the Legacy Path program will be conditionally admitted and permitted to register for one semester of coursework after BSN completion to allow time for licensure process completion.

The Secondary English Language Arts Education MSE program accepts admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Secondary English Language Arts Education prior to unconditional admission.

- Maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.0

Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Secondary General Social Studies Education prior to unconditional admission.

- Maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.0

The Secondary Mathematics Education MSE program accepts admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics Education prior to unconditional admission.

Admissions Requirements for the Advanced Standing- 1 Year Program
- Complete a bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Jacksonville State University.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00
The Advanced Standing program only takes admission for the Spring and Summer semesters.
Admissions Requirements for the Traditional- 2 Year Program
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University.
- Students must maintain a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00
The Traditional 2-year program only takes admission for the Fall semester.
Admission Requirements
- Complete a bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University with a major in Special Education Collaborative Teacher K-6/6
- Maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Students should be enrolled in Internship (ED495)

The Special Education Collaborative Teacher K-6/6 MSE program accepts admission for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
Students must pass all appropriate certification exams and receive a Bachelor’s level (Class B) teaching certificate in Special Education Collaborative Teacher K-6/6 prior to unconditional admission.

The Sport Industry program takes admission for Fall, Summer, and Spring semesters.
Applicants who fail to meet Legacy Path criteria upon completion of their bachelor’s degree will be considered for admission under the standard admissions requirements. Additional supporting documentation may be required prior to receiving an admission decision.
