Tryouts

Tryout Details

Our tryouts are held annually, both in person and online, during the first week of school or by invitation. Existing varsity players will also join in the tryouts, making it a competitive yet collaborative environment.

What to Expect at Tryouts:

  1. Competitive Play: Candidates will engage in competitive matches, with observations from our directors, coaches, and analysts.
  2. Teaching and Demonstration: We'll assess your knowledge and skills, providing teaching and demonstrations as needed.
  3. Competitive Scrims: You'll participate in competitive scrims with teams both within and outside of Jax State University.

Expect to play for extended periods, receiving coaching and instruction between rounds, maps, and games. Players will primarily stick to their roles, but there may be group changes or substitutions, so keep an open mind.

Requirements

To be eligible for our varsity esports teams, players must be enrolled full-time at the university, though this requirement doesn't apply during auditions. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is necessary to participate in matches or scrims, and players must adhere to our code of conduct.
