The ECP Program (Early Childhood/Elementary Education) supports the JSU learning-centered mission through the development of exceptional teachers who are well-prepared to instruct a diverse student population using the knowledge, skills, and dispositions required by professional educators. 

  • Graduates are qualified for a Class B Professional Teaching Certificate in the State of Alabama
    • Successful completion of the ECP Program qualifies teacher candidates for certification in Early Childhood Education (PK-3) and Elementary Education (K-6). 
  • The program includes specialized training with Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) and Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI). 
  • Specialized training in the Science of Reading ensures that program graduates are prepared to teach literacy at all levels and to all students.

  • Other careers requiring advanced skills in communication, long- and short-range planning, and professionalism.
