Admitted Student Days

Admitted Student Day is an exclusive event for accepted freshmen to connect with the academic department of their intended major. This interactive event allows students to spend time in their academic department completing activities and hearing from current faculty and students. At Admitted Student Days, students can also take care of next steps (including the chance to register for Gamecock Orientation early!), sit down one-on-one with financial aid, see incredible university spaces, attend a housing information session, and even take part in an Honors Classroom Experience. These sessions will be start at the University Recreation and Fitness Center. Check out a tentative schedule below and register! Registrants will receive confirmation, reminders, and updated schedules before their Admitted Student Day event. Please note Admitted Student Days have a one guest per student limit.

Admitted Student Meetings

Admissions Counselors host admitted student meetings for accepted students at most high schools, or admitted student groups across counties, to review next steps and answer admitted student questions.

Admitted Student Days Event Information

Check-in

The day will begin in the Recreation and Fitness Center, where you and your guest, if attending, will check-in and receive your admitted student gift and event information. Admitted Student Days consist of a scheduled morning, including a visit with your academic department and an afternoon schedule built by you! Check out the tentative schedule for the day on the drop-down menu below so you can see what events are scheduled.

Guests

Only one guest per student is permitted at Admitted Student Days. Walk-up attendees and extra guests will be admitted based on space availability.

Parking and transportation

Plan to park in the lots in front of the Recreation and Fitness Center/Stephenson Hall and the Theron Montgomery Building (off of HWY 21). JSU Ambassadors will be stationed in these areas ready to direct you, once parked. See our campus map for more information!

For the Academic Showcase, some academic programs are off the main campus, but within a 5 – 10 minute drive. If your Academic Department Showcase is meeting off the main campus in Stone Center, Longleaf Studios, South Complex, or The College of Education and Professional Studies Complex, you will need to drive to the second location. Directions will be provided.

Lunch

Lunch is not provided at Admitted Student Day, and the afternoon schedule is flexible for you to enjoy eating on campus or at one of our community partners and taking in all the afternoon offers!

Optional Sessions

In the afternoon, you will have several optional sessions you can attend to enhance your campus visit. These include visiting notable campus locations, housing information sessions, one-on-one opportunities to discuss your financial aid offers, and complete next steps like completing the FAFSA, applying for housing, and registering for Gamecock Orientation. A full listing of optional sessions will be in your welcome packet. Some next steps such as completing the housing application and registering for Gamecock Orientation require a non-refundable fee. These steps can be completed later, but if you plan to take care of them at Admitted Student Day, please bring payment information. The housing application requires a $200 non-refundable application fee. The Gamecock Orientation (GO!) registration fee is $100 per student and $20 per guest (up to two guests are allowed).

Comfort and Accessibility

Events take you across campus on Admitted Student Days, so please dress comfortably and weather-appropriately as you may be walking outside to building across campus. We will do our best to accommodate anyone needing assistance. Please find a staff member or student leader to assist you throughout the day!

Inclement Weather

Should there be any changes to the schedule due to weather related road closures, you will be notified at your personal email address and information will be posted on the JSU website. The University consults with the local Emergency Management Agency office, the National Weather Service and the Alabama Department of Transportation when making decisions on the operation of campus.
