Nick earned his Ph.D. in Communication & Information Sciences from the University of Alabama in 2022, where his dissertation, "Sports media in the age of instant information: Niche news and the expanded digital marketplace," explored the modern sports media landscape. He also holds an M.A. in Journalism (specializing in Magazine reporting) from Kent State University and a B.A. in Communication (with a minor in Sport management) from Robert Morris University.

In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashlyn, and two daughters -- Emrie and Iyla.

Academic/Research Interests

His primary research interests center on the evolution of sports journalism in the digital age, with a focus on niche news and the representation of social issues within sports media. Nick is the author of "Normalizing the sports journalism niche: Coexisting in a modern news landscape" (Peter Lang, 2025), and numerous articles in top journals, including Journalism Studies, Communication & Sport, Digital Journalism, and International Journal of Sport Communication.
