Alumni Account Information
Graduation
- The MyJaxState portal and JSU email accounts will remain active for one (1) year following the official graduation date.
- After this period, student accounts will be deactivated in accordance with university IT security standards.
Student Data Responsibility
- Students are responsible for securing and backing up their data prior to account deactivation.
- Save important emails, documents, and files
- Export data needed for personal or professional use
- Jacksonville State University is not responsible for data loss following account deactivation.
Third-Party Account Updates
Before losing access to a @stu.jsu.edu email account, students must update any third-party services (e.g., financial institutions, streaming services, online retailers, and subscriptions) that use the student email address.
Alumni Email Account Eligibility
Upon graduation, students are issued an alumni email account to maintain communication and engagement with Jacksonville State University.
Alumni Email Address Format
Alumni email address format will be the former JaxState username in the following format:
- username@alum.jsu.edu
Alumni Email Access and Credentials
Initial login credentials for alumni email accounts are as follows:
- Username: Student username followed by @alum.jsu.edu
- Temporary Password:
The user’s 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY) followed by the last four digits of the JSU ID number
Example:
- Birthdate: January 15, 1998
- JSU ID ending in: 1234
- Temporary password: 0115981234
Users will be required to change their password upon first login.

The alumni email account is intended for:
• Official JSU and alumni communications
• University news and announcements
• Alumni events and engagement opportunities
