Non-Instructional Program Review

Jax State requires non-instructional units (“NI”) to participate in a comprehensive program review process as defined in the II.16-Program Review policy

Every seven years, each NI (academic and student support and administrative units with an operational plan) unit undergoes a self-study and a peer review executed by Internal Audit that will result in a report and recommendations. Any recommendations for improvement should feed into the unit's operational plan which will fold into the yearly reporting and evaluation processes.

Internal Audit will assist the units with their self-study by:

  1. Offering training on the program review process.
  2. Setting up a One Drive file structure for self-study support.
  3. Gathering required information (e.g., financial data, job descriptions, personnel evaluations, etc.).
  4. Providing examples of completed NI Program Review Narratives as examples to facilitate the self-study and narrative development.
  5. Reviewing drafts of the Program Review Narrative and providing feedback during the process.

Accordingly, program review (“PR”) of NI programs will occur during their planned Internal Audit. Timelines will be adjusted as needed and communicated to each program once the Internal Audit plan is finalized (September of each year).

The following links will direct you to a manual and templates that will assist you in completing the self-study:

At the conclusion of the process, the division vice president will review the PR Narrative and Internal Audit report.

Once the divisional vice president has completed their review, the unit must upload the PR Narrative, an email or memo from the divisional vice president verifying their review and approval of the PR Narrative, and the Internal Audit report using the Program Review Submission Form.
