Dr. Johanna Morgan joined Jacksonville State University as a full-time Assistant Professor in 2026 and teaches in the Department of Professional Counseling and Leadership. She brings more than 22 years of experience in education, including 16 years as a classroom teacher and six years as a school administrator.

Before transitioning to higher education, Dr. Morgan served as an elementary school principal, where she led school-improvement initiatives focused on student achievement, instructional leadership, school culture, family engagement, and teacher development.

Dr. Morgan earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Capella University, an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Montevallo, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a Middle School Mathematics Endorsement from Aurora University.

Dr. Morgan is committed to preparing and mentoring future teachers and school leaders. Her professional and research interests include instructional leadership, school improvement, school culture and climate, teacher development and retention, educational technology, data-informed decision-making, and the preparation of aspiring school leaders.
