Matthew McRae graduated Magna Cum Laude earning his B.S. in Geography with honors from Jacksonville State University in 2008. After graduating, he worked for three years in computer-based mapping. Afterwards, he went to work for Alabama Specialty Products Inc where he started in production control in their Alabama Laser Systems division and soon worked his way into project coordination and project management for the Oil and Gas group within the Metal Samples division. He was integral in developing their project team and helped develop several processes and databases that continued to be used past the time of his departure. He spent over 13 years there coordinating with project teams and businesses from all over the world (including Exxon Mobil, Shell, Saipem, Technip, Petroleum Development Oman, Worley Parsons, ADNOC, and Saudi Aramco). He also served for over 2 of those years as the project manager, production coordinator, and expeditor for the machine shop which manufactured parts for all 3 main divisions of Alabama Specialty Products Inc.
His passion outside of work is music and community theatre. He joined CAST Theatre in 2022 with his first show, My Fair Lady. Since then, he has performed in over 10 shows. Some of his favorite roles include Trevor in The Play That Goes Wrong and Cogsworth in Beauty and The Beast. He started serving on the CAST Board of Directors as the Marketing Chair in 2024. He assistant directed A Christmas Story: The Musical in 2024, where he also had to step in for a few roles at the last minute, and Blithe Spirit in 2025. His favorite part of being in theatre is when he has shared the stage with his daughter.
