I am a native of Jacksonville, Alabama and have been an employee of JSU since February 1999. My education includes a BS in economics and an MPA with concentration in business administration from JSU, and a PhD from Auburn University. In addition to serving as a faculty member, my professional career includes experience in accounts receivable management and small business development. I work under contract with the JSU Center for Economic Development and Business Research as editor of Economic Update, and author economic impact technical reports. My primary teaching areas are financial management and personal finance. My research interests include various areas of corporate, personal, and behavioral finance. Research articles have been published in the following selected, academic journals: Regional Business Review; Journal of Instructional Pedagogies; Journal of International Finance Studies; Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives; International Journal of Business and Public Administration; Journal of Business, Accounting, and Finance; and Business Journal for Entrepreneurs. Several articles have been presented at academic conferences and recognized with research awards. Service to JSU includes faculty advisor for the Financial Management Association, major academic advisor for Finance students, and two terms on the Faculty Senate. Professional service includes member of Business Advisory Board for ENACTUS, and Revolving Loan Fund committee member at the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission. I am a member and past president of the Anniston Lions Club, and have served on the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee, and as past president of Anniston Credit Association. I am active in my church in teaching Sunday School and as a choir member. Having an opportunity to mentor students and encourage academic and professional advancement is a privilege and rewarding aspect of my career.
