The Bachelor of Social Work Program at JSU is Nationally Accredited

The Bachelor of Social Work Program at JSU was launched in 1988, and received initial accreditation by the National Council on Social Work Education in 1992, which became retroactive to 1988. Accreditation was reaffirmed in 1996, 2004, and again in 2013, which will be in effect until 2020.  The BSW program at JSU is one of the largest in the state of Alabama.

The mission of the BSW degree program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, values, and interests to promote human and community well-being through public service and entry-level generalist social work practice.

  • 1393 graduates as of August 2015
  • 246 majors
  • 60 Field Agencies
  • a Social Work Club
  • a Chapter of Phi Alpha (the Social Work Honor Society)
