E-Verify Affidavit Requirements
Effective January 1, 2012 , Section 9 of State of Alabama Act 2011-535, the new Alabama Immigration Law, requires that JSU obtain from business entities, employers and individuals doing business with JSU, documentation establishing enrollment in the E-Verify program.
For JSU, this means that new vendors or contractors that provide goods or services after January 1, 2012 doing business under a Federal tax identification number will be required to provide a W-9 Form and an affidavit, including their E-Verify identification number, attesting that the business or employer does not knowingly employ an unauthorized alien. Vendors doing business under a social security number will only be required to provide the W-9 Form.
Establishing vendors for the following payments will not require an E-Verify certification to be on file with JSU:
-
Reimbursement of travel expenses for job applicants
-
Refunds such as registrations or deposits
-
Stipends
-
Return of unused scholarship funds
-
Payroll transactions for withholdings
