Welcome to Jax State

The Office of Transfer and Adult Student Learning Support (TASLS) values transfer students, adult learners, and non-traditional students as an integral part of the Jax State community. Whether you are transferring from another college or returning to school after time away, we will help you find your place at Jax State and provide valuable resources for you as you navigate this environment. From personalized success coaching to academic resources and community connections, our goal is to ensure you have the tools and support you need to thrive—both in and out of the classroom.

Who is an “adult learner”?

Adult learners, frequently referred to as non-traditional students, are often defined by age; however, there are other qualities and characteristics that identify adult learners more clearly. Adult learners may fall into one or more of the following categories:
  • 25 years of age of older
  • Married, widowed, or divorced
  • Have children and/or family members to support
  • Military-affiliated (veteran, active duty, or reservists)
  • Have independent financial aid status
  • Returning to college after an extended break

Our Mission

The Transfer and Adult Student Learning Support office empowers transfer students, adult learners, and non-traditional students to thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Through inclusive programs, personalized success coaching, and strategic partnerships across campus and the community, we provide the resources and support necessary for these students to excel. We are dedicated to fostering an environment of continuous learning and collaboration, guided by best practices in adult education, college student development, and transfer student success. By championing equitable access, we advance the University’s commitment to helping every student achieve their educational and career goals.
