November 1

Call for promotion applications by the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

January 1

Faculty portfolios are submitted to department heads, after which no further documentation may be added by the candidate.  Three outside reviewers are identified--two by the dean and one by the faculty member.

February 1

Deans begin evaluations, seek outside reviewers input, propose recommendations, and submit portfolios to the Deans Council.

April 1

Deans Council completes evaluations, proposes recommendations, and submits portfolios to the Provost/Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

April 15

Provost/Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs reviews portfolios and submits recommendations to the President.

May 1

President reviews and approves or disapproves recommendations for promotion.  Decision of the President is final.

2nd Week of May

Faculty approved for Distinguished Professor will be recognized at the Annual Faculty Awards Program.


Promotion will become effective October 1, upon approval of the President.
