Jax State to Delay Opening Until 10 a.m. Monday, January 26

01/25/2026

Due to precipitation lingering longer than originally forecast and out of an abundance of caution, Jacksonville State University will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Monday, January 26.

This decision aligns with the State of Alabama’s announcement to delay the opening of state offices Monday morning and reflects growing concerns about potentially icy road conditions during the early morning hours.

Classes scheduled to begin before 10 a.m. will not meet, and university operations will resume at 10 a.m. Faculty will communicate directly with students regarding any class-specific adjustments. The Dining Hall and UREC will operate as normally scheduled.

Nonexempt staff may use the “Campus Closure (CLO)” payroll code to account for missed hours.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority. Individuals are encouraged to use their best judgment when traveling to campus. If conditions in your area are unsafe, prioritize your safety and communicate directly with your professors or supervisors regarding any necessary accommodations.

Jax State will continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely. Any additional changes will be communicated promptly through official university channels. Please continue to monitor university communications for updates.

Sincerely,

Dr. Don C. Killingsworth, Jr.
President
