Spring Graduate Students Toast

By Brett Buckner

On Tuesday, April 2, students preparing for graduation met at the University Recreation Center for the annual Jax State Graduate Toast. Since 2020, the Graduate Toast has given students the chance to celebrate past accomplishments while looking toward the future.

Jax State President Don Killingsworth addressed the 76 graduates in attendance. “Thank you for coming to this important celebration,” he said. “I think it's a special event that we have started over the last few years. We are here just to celebrate you.” President Killingsworth went on to thank the students for choosing Jax State for their educational journey, and encouraged them to take the next steps, whether into the working world or grad school.

“We are proud of you, and we can't thank you enough for entrusting us with your education,” he concluded, raising his champagne flute. “I salute you, the graduating class of 2024, we are proud of you, and we can't wait to see what you accomplish.”

Representatives from the Registrar's Office were available at the event to answer questions on the upcoming graduation, and a representative from the graduate school was there to speak with the students interested in furthering their education at Jax State. Commencement ceremonies will be May 3 at 9 a.m.
