Jacksonville State will be closed for winter break on Dec. 16-Jan. 1, with offices reopening on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The Spring 2024 semester will begin on Jan. 8.

Construction teams will take advantage of the break, using the campus closure to complete work that requires power to be shut off to some buildings. Contractors will work diligently to restore power to affected buildings as soon as possible.

The following Winter Break Hours will be observed for campus services.

FOOD and DINING

All campus dining locations will close for the semester on Friday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. Fall student meal swipes will expire at this time. WOW will reopen on Sunday, Jan. 7, serving guests 4-11 p.m. All other dining locations will resume regular hours on Jan. 8.

The Gamecock Market will be closed Dec. 8-Jan. 10. Meal packets are available, free of charge, for those who need them. To pick up, housing residents should stop by Meehan or Sparkman Halls and off-campus residents should go to the Rec Center or University Police Department. While campus is open Dec. 11-15 and Jan. 2-5, students may continue to email gamecockmarket@jsu.edu if they have an emergency need.

HEALTH, SAFETY and TRANSPORTATION

The REC Center, normally open most of winter break, will be closed Dec. 20-Jan. 1, due to the scheduled power outage on campus. It will reopen on Jan. 2 at 5 a.m. The basketball courts will be closed until further notice for renovations, but the Mac Court will be available during this time. The RMC/JSU Health Center will remain open regular hours over winter break, except for Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1. Please note that, beginning Dec. 11, the health center will temporarily relocate to RMC Jacksonville Family Medicine at 1465 1st Street SW, Suite B. For questions or to schedule an appointment, call 256-782-5310.

Counseling Services will be closed for winter break. Students experiencing a mental health crisis when campus is closed should call the University Police Department at 256-782-5050 to be connected to an on-call counselor. For emergencies, call 911.

The University Police Department will be open 24/7 during winter break to keep campus safe and secure. Call 256-782-5050 for assistance.

The jsuRIDE transportation system will be available Dec. 11-14, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed for winter break.

MAIL, BOOKS and PRINTING

Houston Cole Library will be open Dec. 11-15, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed over winter break, reopening on Jan. 2.

Campus Bookstore: The bookstore will be closed over winter break. Be sure to stop by the week of Dec. 11th for specials, including 25 percent off all clearance clothing items. The annual faculty/staff appreciation sale is set for Dec. 13-14, when employees with ID can enjoy 20 percent off most items storewide.

Mail Center and Print Shop: The Mail Center and Print Shop will be closed for winter break. Students expecting holiday packages should be advised that items delivered to the Mail Center by 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 will be placed in the mail lockers for pickup. However, oversized packages that don't fit in the mail lockers, as well as all packages that arrive after 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 15, will not be available until campus reopens on Jan. 2. Mail volume will be heavy when campus reopens, slowing down sorting and delivery through the first half of the week. Please be patient with our campus mail team as they work to get your mail to you as soon as possible after the break.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, JSU FAMILY!
