President Killingsworth Selected for Leadership Alabama

JSU President Don C. Killingsworth, Jr., has been selected for Leadership Alabama – joining a diverse group of leaders representing a variety of industries across the state, chosen for their commitment to helping Alabama reach its full potential."As a lifelong Alabamian, I am honored to join this outstanding group of leaders in addressing the issues and exploring the opportunities that impact the future of our state," Dr. Killingsworth said.Established in 1990, Leadership Alabama is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that strives to develop a network of leaders who share a mutual understanding of the problems and priorities affecting the state's future."Like no other program, Leadership Alabama exposes established leaders to both the challenges that face the people of our state and the myriad of opportunities," said Gordon G. Martin, senior vice president at Alabama Power and past board chair of Leadership Alabama. "But even more importantly, it spurs people to action and establishes lasting relationships among leaders that can lead to a better Alabama."To date, more than 1,600 leaders have graduated from Leadership Alabama. As part of the program's 33rd class, Killingsworth will visit communities across the state and participate in educational programs that explore the many social, economic and governmental issues facing Alabama.Native to Alexander City, Ala., Killingsworth has demonstrated his commitment to Alabama throughout his 22-year career. His service includes chairing the boards of Leadership Calhoun County and the Calhoun County Area Chamber and Visitors Center. He is also active in the Jacksonville Exchange Club, Rotary Club and Jacksonville First United Methodist Church.
