Get ready for delicious food, fun activities and country music because Jacksonville’s largest outdoor festival, Spirit on Mountain Street, is back! The JSU Student Government Association invites the community to Mountain Street, next to JSU Stadium, on Aug. 17 for an evening of family-friendly fun as we kick off the area school year.  The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with Taste of the Town – a taster’s fair featuring area restaurants dishing up samples of their most popular menu items in return for tickets priced at $1. There will also be a free Kids Zone, a Sonic hotdog eating contest and a vendor area. Admission is free.  At 8 p.m., Platinum-selling country act Parmalee will cap off the night with a free concert in the stadium parking lot. The chart topping band from Parmele, NC, is one of country music’s most successful acts – and one of only four groups since 2001 to earn three consecutive Top 10 singles from a debut country album. They have been nominated as the Academy of Country Music’s New Vocal Duo/Group of the Year.       Since their debut on country radio, Parmalee has earned more than one billion on-demand streams. Heralded as “country music’s breakout stars” by MSN Entertainment, Parmalee has supported Brad Paisley and Jake Owen on national tours while finding time to perform on NBC’s TODAY show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Late Late Show, FOX & Friends All American Summer Concert Series, MLB Central’s Studio 21 and The Queen Latifah Show.
