University Closed for Holiday July 2-5

Jacksonville State University will be closed on Friday, July 2, and Monday, July 5, in observation of Juneteenth and Independence Day.

As previously announced by the Office of the President, the university intends to observe our nation's new federal holiday, Juneteenth, on or around June 19 each year. However, for 2021, an additional holiday was added to Fourth of July weekend to provide faculty and staff adequate time to rearrange activities and organized events.

The following is a list of campus hours of operation for the holiday weekend.

EMERGENCIES

The University Police Department will be available for assistance 24/7 over the holiday weekend at 256-782-5050. As always, students experiencing a mental health emergency after-hours should contact campus police at 256-782-5050 to be placed in contact with an on-call counselor.

REC CENTER

The Recreation and Fitness Center will be open on Friday, July 2, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The indoor pool hours that day will be 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. The outdoor pool will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Rec Center will be closed July 3-5.

LIBRARY

Houston Cole Library will be closed July 2, 4, 5. It will be open normal summer hours on Saturday, July 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

HEALTH CENTER

The RMC/JSU Student Health Center will be open on Friday, July 2, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The center will take walk-ins from 8-11 a.m. and patients with appointments from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The center will be closed July 3-5. Call 256-782-5310 for assistance. 

DINING

  • Friday, July 2: Jack Hopper Dining Hall open for breakfast and lunch only. WOW open 12-8 p.m. The Red Rooster will be open normal hours, 12-7 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 3: Jack Hopper Dining Hall will be closed. WOW will be open 12-8 p.m. The Red Rooster will be open normal hours, 12-7 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 4: Jack Hopper Dining Hall will be closed. WOW will be open 12-8 p.m. The Red Rooster will be open 12-3 p.m.
  • Monday, July 5: Jack Hopper Dining Hall will be closed. WOW will be open 12-8 p.m. The Red Rooster will be open normal hours, 12-7 p.m.
