Gov. Kay Ivey Visits JSU Canyon Center

Gov. Kay Ivey visited ​the JSU Canyon Center on Nov. 15 while touring DeKalb and Cherokee Counties in celebration of Alabama's bicentennial. She was introduced by JSU trustee Randy Owen at the event celebrating state tourism. Community leaders, elected officials, the National Park Service and JSU leadership were in attendance. Formed as a territory on March 3, 1817, Alabama became the nation’s 22nd state on Dec. 14, 1819. Established in 1883, JSU has existed for 136 years of Alabama history. The state will host a 200th birthday celebration on Dec. 14 in Montgomery.
