Campus Closed Jan. 6 Due to Winter Storm

The National Weather Service has placed Calhoun County under a Winter Storm Warning effective 6 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 through 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7. Due to this approaching storm system, the university will be closed on Friday, and classes will not meet.

Essential personnel such as those working in the university police, maintenance and housing offices will remain on call to provide emergency services to those residing on campus.

The Jack Hopper Dining Hall will be open regular hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. All other dining facilities will be closed. The Gamecock Express will not run Friday. The RMC Student Health Center will be closed and medical emergencies should be reported to the University Police Department at 256-782-5050 or by calling 911.

The Houston Cole Library will be closed on Friday and Saturday. The library will resume regular hours, 3-11 p.m., on Sunday, weather permitting. The Bookstore will tentatively close Friday with the university. At this point, the Bookstore plans to open Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are encouraged to order from the bookstore website for Saturday pick up. Please monitor the Bookstore’s social media accounts for updates.

Any weather statements relevant to JSU's operations will be shared on the JSU website, via JSU E-Alert and email, through local print and broadcast media, and on the university's social media platforms.

The JSU basketball doubleheader tonight will continue as planned. The Gamecock Women’s team will tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Men’s team at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to students and pizza will also be provided to students, free of charge, with student ID.
