Road to the Championship: Get Your Ticket to Ride
12/03/2014
Haven't you heard? All we do is win! The No. 2 ranked JSU Gamecocks will host Sam Houston State University on Saturday for the second round of the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on Burgess-Snow Field. Please make plans to attend the showdown. The team needs the support of the entire Gamecock Nation as it fights to defeat those Bearkats and send them back to Texas with their tails between their legs!Need tickets?
JSU is unable to comp student tickets to the matchup since it is presented by the NCAA. However, President Bill Meehan wants every student to have the opportunity to attend the game and has agreed to purchase tickets for all current students. Since student tickets are being purchased, you cannot simply flash your student ID at the gate to gain entrance. You must pick up your ticket at the Kennamer Hall Athletic Ticket Office by 3 p.m. on Friday. NO STUDENT TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE GATES!
General admission tickets are $10, while Stadium Club tickets are $40. Yes, you read that correctly! Just $40 will let you view the game from the red seats - which includes 5th floor access and all the rights, privileges and good grub found therein. Tickets are selling fast! Purchase yours online or over the phone at 256-782-8499.
For more information, contact the ticket office at 256-782-8499. The office will be open Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What to Expect Game Day
While this is a playoff game, hosted by the NCAA, it's still a JSU home game - meaning, you can expect the same atmosphere on the Friendliest Campus we enjoy during regular season games. Concessions will be selling Chick-fil-A, burgers and hotdogs. The ROTC cadets will do pushups during all our team's (hopefully many) touchdowns. The cheerleaders will pep up the crowd and get fans off their feet and doing the wave. And the incredible Marching Southerners will entertain throughout the game and during half-time - led by drum majors Daniel O'Donnell, Joie Byrd and Kara Mullinax, whose wedding proposal during the Southerners Alumni weekend went viral. Haven't seen it? Check it out here!
Winning Odds
Jacksonville State (10-1, 8-0 OVC) enters the playoffs ranked No. 3 nationally in the Sports Network Top 25 and having won 10 games in a row since a season-opening loss to nationally-ranked FBS foe Michigan State. Sam Houston State (9-4) won a share of the Southland Conference and defeated SE Louisiana 21-17 last week. The odds are in our favor, but we need every screaming fan in the stands to cheer on the team to victory!
